L’ASCENSEUR (THE ELEVATOR) is therapy for a man trying to get to the top floor of an enormous skyscraper in the company of some of humanity’s most annoying specimens.
The problem is that each of his attempts ends in failure because all these people seem to have agreed to push him over the edge. His psychiatrist’s conclusion is inescapable: if he manages to endure this torture and make it to the summit, he will have mastered his exasperation with his fellow man and made peace with the absurdity of his existence. If he fails, he will return endlessly to the ground floor.
